While Google and Facebook began a while ago to invest in satellites, balloons and drones to deliver internet access to the 4 million not yet online, the venerable software company of Redmond Wash has just found its strategy to address the global disconnect. The ‘Affordable Access Initiative’ awards grants to companies with deserving projects and the first 12 winners have just been nominated. One extra billion dollars will go on cloud computing for non-profit enterprises.
